Throughout much of my almost (yikes) sixty years, I have observed and taken advantage of those times when the course of events that make up our lives suddenly slows and we have a chance to catch our breath and collect our thoughts.
Mid-September is always one of those times. It is a time when people have returned from their vacations and settled their children in school or have just collectively decided to ‘take a breather’ from the pushes and pulls of the demands we have placed on ourselves or that have been placed on us by others. Of course, in the back of our minds we are always aware of an uneasy sense that time is traveling faster than the speed of light and soon the craziness of the holidays will be upon us. |

It is that time of year again when elementary school children and pre-school children will be returning to the classroom. It is also nearing the time of year when the flu and cold season begins in the early Fall. So what can a parent do to protect their children from the colds and the flu? |

Unfortunately, the eyes and surrounding skin are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. |
